CISM results and study approach

I recently got my much anticipated results for the CISM exam. I was a bit nervous because many of my coworkers from other locations were getting their ISACA results and I hadn't heard anything. Turns out it's because I'd requested results be mailed to me as opposed to electronic notification.

The way I'd approached the CISM  is that I didn't actually read the book. I just took a few practice exams and then took more focused exams on my week spots.

I'm not yet eligible for the CISM, but it's good that I'm done with my department's 3 core security certs (CISSP, CISM, CISA).

Latest add to the watch collection- 70's Hamilton 10k gold

Here's the latest add the watch collection. It's a 70s period Hamilton 10k gold watch with a black leather strap. At this point in Hamilton's history, they've moved from using American made movements to Swiss made movements. I got it for $100 and I'm pleased with my first automatic movement watch. The crystal is a bit scratched and the case has a nick in it. The watch runs for about 10 hours, so it needs some maintenance.

Omega Seamaster circa 60s/70s

This is my dream watch ever since I saw it on Park and Bond because of the shape of the bezel and the color of the dial. Oh yea and it's an Omega.

Summer Dress shirts-Ministry of Supply

While going through my Google Reader feeds, I stumbled upon this Kickstarter project posted on TechCrunch for dri-fit like dress shirts. In the height of summer, I think this would be absolutely amazing.

It appears to be a slim fit,  wrinkle free shirt. I'm actually thinking of buying a few shirts.

[Pinterest] Midwest Monsieur

I thought I'd share one of my good friend's pin board on pinterest. He's been pinning for about 8 months or so and he's got some good stuff up there. He pins up food, fashion, and watches. He's a fellow gadget lusteur that has a penchant for electronic and indie music.

currently reading

I'm currently reading

The CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) 2011 Review Manual. I'm taking the exam in a week and I'm just getting around to reading and finishing the book. Now to start taking practice exams. This is either going to go really well or very poorly.

I am also reading Good To Great by Jim Collins. But that's been on back burner for some time. I'm taking everything written in the book with a grain of salt because one of my mentors told me "Good to Great is for wankers".

I recently just finished Made to Stick. I think it's something that all IT people should read especially if they have to engage with stakeholders. I've noticed IT and specifically Security has a hard time justifying what they do and why it's important.
